OEM FICM Relay
FICM relays are an oft-neglected afterthought, but provide the critical transfer of amperage from your charging system to the FICM. If your truck has more than 100,000 miles on it, consider a new relay. It may well save you from a killed FICM!
This relay is located under the hood on the drivers side fender well in the fuse panel next to the firewall.
To read about a no-start caused by a bad relay and see related discussion, check out this thread on ford-trucks.com! For another case where someone thought that surely the aftermarket option was 'just as good', but found out otherwise, check this other ford-trucks.com thread out.
There are only two relay brands we formally approve for FICM operation. The standard Ford OEM, and the BOSCH. (a direct OEM equivalent) Bosch has been an OEM parts supplier to Ford for decades and they work very closely with Ford. In addition to providing parts, Bosch currently provides advanced EV tech training to Ford technicians. Long story short, for this particular part, the BOSCH quality is without question.
**** Ford and Bosch occasionally have lead time/supply chain issues on these specific items. So, when we ship your relay you may receive either the Ford OEM or the BOSCH variant. Either way, you can rest easy knowing you've installed a high quality part.
