With 15-20 years of service behind them the factory cables and terminals are known failure points. Pick up one of these negative/ground cable kits. They'll help you round out your cabling replacement effort on your PowerStroke and save you a big chunk of change over buying OE replacements.
This kit will have your ground side dialed in like new. These are custom made to provide an exact fit for your truck and the terminals on them are far more robust than what you get with stock cables.
